(NASDAQ: AAPL) remains hushed on the significant number of its iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus smartphones reported to be suffering from the touchscreen flaw called “touch disease” since August. This led to some analysts providing tips on how to spot the bug symptoms and what to do when the smartphone has been inflicted with the disease.

1. A flickering gray bar is a symptom of touch disease

An iPhone device is possibly suffering from the design flaw when its screen becomes unresponsive along with a flickering gray bar showing at the top of the monitor. This flaw, which eventually leads to touchscreens dying out and become useless, has been responsible for the 11 percent of all Apple Store repairs within their higher-volume stores, AppleInsider reported.

2. It usually occurs when the device is subjected to flexing

It is surmised that the reason behind the touch disease is when the logic board of the iPhone bends for a number of times every time it is slid in and out of a pocket or a case, or when dropped. The bending causes certain chips inside the board to break or to get dislodged which leads to malfunction.

The disease is most commonly found in iPhone 6 Plus devices, but is also found in iPhone 6, 6s and 6s Plus smartphones, but in less cases than the 6 Plus variant. After the problem was publicized, 22 percent of all the iPhone service traffic was found out to be related to the problem.
