Google scraps 12-year-old's $147,000 bill

Google has said a 12-year-old who accidentally ran up a 100,000 euro ($A147,000) bill with the search giant won't have to pay it.

The Spanish boy set up a Google AdWords account for his website to promote his brass band.

He was charged everytime someone clicked on his ad in Google search results, but mistakenly believed he would actually earn money.

His mother Inma Quesada, told the El Pais newspaper that her son, Jose Javier, didn't realise what he was doing.

The issue only came to light after two months when the bank notified his parents of the charges Google was attempting to collect.

Google confirmed earlier this week that it looked into the case and had canceled the bill.
